Samia's workshop is the must-do family experience in Djerba. In her colorful and welcoming workshop, Samia — a certified ceramics and modeling artisan — welcomes you with patience and good humor, whether you're alone, as a couple, or with children.
The atmosphere is radically different from a traditional workshop: here, we laugh, we try, we fail, we try again. Children are welcome from age 4 (little ones love feeling clay between their fingers), and Samia adapts her teaching to each participant — from complete beginner to those wanting to try the pottery wheel.
🎨 Three techniques to choose from
- Pottery wheel — the classic technique: centering, lifting, opening. The magical sensation of material taking shape between your hands.
- Free hand modeling — no wheel needed, shape with your fingers. Ideal for children and travelers who want to create something original (animals, vases, wall décor).
- Raw ceramic decoration — Samia provides pre-fired pieces that you decorate with colored slips and Berber patterns.
🔥 Firing + pickup
For small pieces (dessert plate size, small cup), firing is quick (4-6 hours) and you leave with your creation the same day at the end of the workshop. For larger or delicate pieces, Samia handles the firing over 48-72 hours and we deliver your work directly to your hotel before you leave.
