Samia's workshop is the must-do family experience in Djerba. In her colourful and welcoming studio, Samia — a qualified ceramic artist and sculptor — welcomes you with patience and good humour, whether you're visiting alone, as a couple, or with children.
The atmosphere is completely different from a traditional workshop: here, you laugh, you experiment, you make mistakes, you try again. Children are welcome from age 4 onwards (little ones love feeling the clay between their fingers), and Samia tailors her teaching to each participant — from complete beginner to those wanting to try the pottery wheel.
🎨 Three techniques to choose from
- Pottery wheel — the classic technique: centring, lifting, opening. The magical sensation of watching the clay take shape between your hands.
- Freehand modelling — no wheel needed, you shape with your fingers. Perfect for children and travellers who want to create something original (animals, vases, wall décor).
- Decorating raw ceramics — Samia provides ready-fired pieces that you decorate with coloured slip and Berber patterns.
🔥 Firing & collection
For small pieces (dessert plate size, small cup), firing is quick (4-6 hours) and you leave with your creation the same day at the end of the workshop. For larger or delicate pieces, Samia handles the firing over 48-72 hours and we deliver your masterpiece directly to your hotel before you depart.
