The Blue Lagoon — a catamaran for dolphin watching in Djerba

The Blue Lagoon is a modern catamaran with a maximum capacity of 25 people, departing from the Djerba Menzel Hotel. Its twin hull guarantees exceptional stability — even passengers prone to seasickness enjoy the experience peacefully. The limited capacity of 25 people (with a minimum of 10 for departure) creates a far more intimate lounge atmosphere than the large tourist pirate boats.

The dolphins & swimming programme — 2 hours of adventure

Early morning departure at 08:30 (calmest waters, most active dolphins) or early afternoon at 13:30 (ideal for families with children). After the safety briefing, the Blue Lagoon sets sail towards the areas where dolphins are regularly spotted, which the skipper knows well. Once dolphins are sighted, the boat slows down for observation from the deck. Next comes the swimming break in a turquoise cove. Return to port with a peaceful sail.

Why a catamaran (and not a speedboat)?

The speedboat is faster but considerably more bumpy — the catamaran offers a stable platform, a flat deck for children, a proper shaded cabin and the possibility of sailing (silent, diesel-free) over certain sections. It's the premium family option in Djerba.

Frequently asked questions

Will we really see dolphins?
Our skipper knows the regular dolphin zones off Djerba. Spotting probability is high in the morning (08:30) — but dolphins remain wild, no absolute guarantee. If the trip doesn't result in sightings, you can return on a later trip at a reduced rate (-50%).
Which time slot is better: 08:30 or 13:30?
08:30: calmest waters, dolphins more active — ideal for spotting. 13:30: slightly more active waters but magnificent light and comfortable warmth — ideal for families with children who need to rest in the morning.
Is this suitable with a baby or young child?
Yes. The catamaran (double hull) is very stable, much more so than speedboats. Babies 0-2 years: free. Children 3-7 years: 50% (20 €). Adapted children's life jackets on board.
Do I need to bring masks and snorkels?
Yes — we don't provide snorkelling equipment. If you wish to observe the seabed during the swimming break, bring your own masks and snorkels. Life jackets are provided on board.
Is there disabled access or mobility support?
Boarding requires stepping across the pontoon. If accompanied, we're happy to assist. Please inform us at the time of booking.
Are hotel transfers really included?
Yes, in an air-conditioned van. We cover the entire Djerba tourist area (Aghir, Sidi Mahrez, Midoun, Houmt-Souk, Tourist Zone). For hotels outside this area, a supplement may apply — we'll clarify in your quote.
Why is there a minimum of 10 people?
Private or shared trip. If you have fewer than 10, we combine with other guests on that date. If the minimum isn't reached, we offer a rebooking or full refund.
I'm vegetarian — is there a meal included?
No meal is served on this short 2-hour trip. Plan to eat before or bring a snack. Juice and water are included.
