Korbous, a thermal spa resort in northern Cap Bon (60 km from Tunis), is famous for its hot springs flowing directly into the sea. Aïn Atrous ("the goat's spring") gushes water at 60 °C into the Mediterranean, creating a unique natural spa. A thermal resort since Roman times, Korbous remains a highly sought-after spa destination today.
The Romans exploited the springs of Korbous (ancient Aquae Carpitanae) from the 2nd century onwards. Remains of Roman baths still visible. During the Middle Ages, thermal activity declined. Under the Husseinids (19th century), the resort was revived by Bey Mohamed Sadok who built the Palace of Baths (1801). The French protectorate modernised the facilities. Today, Korbous is one of Tunisia's main thermal spa resorts.
