Guermassa, a perched Berber village at 700 m altitude, abandoned in the 1980s, offers a ghost town atmosphere in the Dahar. Its defensive position, its ghorfas clinging to the cliff face and its hiking trail to the summit (1 hour) make it a picturesque stop for lovers of authenticity.
Guermassa was founded in the 12th century by Berbers fleeing the Hilalian invasions. An impregnable defensive position. The village had up to 1,500 inhabitants in the 19th century. In the 20th century, rural exodus progressed. In 1980, the last family moved down to the plain. The village is now completely abandoned, preserved as a testament to Berber heritage.
