Ksar Hadada was founded in the 15th century by the Berber tribe of the Hadada. A fortified collective granary over 2 levels, approximately 100 ghorfas. It served to preserve harvests and shelter inhabitants in case of attack. In 1999, George Lucas filmed several scenes from Star Wars Episode I there (interior scenes of Mos Espa). A major tourist site ever since.
